What works, what to weigh

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Central location on the quay — Across from the River Liffey, a 5-minute walk to Dublinia and an 8-minute walk to the Olympia Theatre. Temple Bar is about 10 minutes away.
  • Private parking available — The hostel has its own parking lot, which is a practical option given the central location.
  • Secure and safe — Guests mention cameras, pass entry, and electronically-keyed room doors, which contributes to a sense of safety.
  • Helpful staff — Several reviews highlight the friendly and knowledgeable staff, who assist with transport and local recommendations.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • No air conditioning — Dorm rooms can feel stuffy in the morning, and windows may be limited for fresh air.
  • Shared dorm rooms only — All accommodation is in mixed dormitories of 4 to 16 beds, which may not suit those seeking private rooms.
  • Potential for smoke in common areas — One guest mentioned smoke wafting into the common area, which could be off-putting.
  • Stairs and potential noise — A review mentions a tiring climb to the third floor. While not specified in input, the central location might bring street noise.

“The location across from the Liffey and near Temple Bar was ideal. I could walk to St Patrick's, Dublin Castle, and Dublinia. The Brazen Head pub is just 5 minutes away. Security felt solid with cameras and key card access. Our room for four had comfortable bunks, a private bathroom, and a river view. The common area was lively, and breakfast, Netflix lounge, luggage storage, kitchen, and laundry were all there. Staff helped with transport and tickets. The murals were cheerful. Smoke from outside drifted into the common area, and the third-floor climb was tiring, but I'd recommend it.”
